Getting Around

Pai town is small enough to walk, but reaching the key sights outside town requires transport. The standard approach is to rent a motorbike (100–150 baht per day for a semi-automatic, more for an automatic), which gives complete flexibility to cover the canyon, hot springs, bamboo bridge, and Santichon village at your own pace. Bicycles are available for rent and work well for the flat valley floor sights.

Songthaews (red shared trucks) run between points in the valley and can be chartered for longer day trips. Many guesthouses and tour agencies organise day trips by vehicle or motorbike convoy to the main sights, which suits those not comfortable driving in Thailand. Tuk-tuks are available in town for short hops. There is no reliable public transport to most of the sights outside the immediate town area.
