Soppong is small enough to walk around in twenty minutes, but the surrounding area in Pang Mapha district is full of cave systems, hilltribe villages, and jungle trails that can keep you busy for days. Tham Lot, the large river cave about 9km north, is the main attraction and worth the trip on its own. The area has some of the best caving in northern Thailand, and guides for both the show caves and more adventurous exploration are available in the village.
