Getting Around

Cha-am is a small town and the beach area is easy to navigate on foot or by bicycle. The main strip along Ruamchit Road is about 3 km long.

Songthaew: Shared pickup trucks (songthaew) run regularly along Ruamchit Road and connect the beach to the town centre. Flag one down anywhere along the main road; the fare is a few baht.

Motorbike taxi: Motorbike taxis congregate near the bus drop-off points and at the northern end of Ruamchit Road. They are the quickest way to get to the train station or to reach Mrigadayavan Palace.

Bicycle and motorbike rental: Several guesthouses and shops along Ruamchit Road rent bicycles and motorbikes by the day. A bicycle is ideal for the flat beach boulevard; a motorbike is needed to reach Mrigadayavan Palace or Phetchaburi independently.

Hua Hin connection: Songthaews run the 25 km south to Hua Hin for a very small fare, leaving from the northern end of Ruamchit Road. This makes it easy to spend a day in Hua Hin without moving your base.
