The beach is the main attraction in Cha-am, and it is a very good one — long, palm-lined, and mercifully free of the overdevelopment that has overtaken parts of Hua Hin. Beyond the sand, the town has a fishing pier worth a sunset wander, and the surrounding countryside holds a remarkable royal palace and one of Thailand's most important national parks.
