The Western Front Headquarters museum occupies the town hall building used by Turkish commanders during the final phase of the War of Independence. In 1921 the command moved here as the Greek advance was checked and then pushed back toward Izmir.
The displays are modest, but the building gives Akşehir a national-history role beyond its Nasreddin Hoca fame.
