Cleopatra Beach

Cleopatra Beach is Alanya's main western beach, stretching roughly 2.5 km along the coast from the base of the promontory toward Damlataş Cave. The sand is coarse and golden, the water is clear and calm (the promontory provides natural shelter from the prevailing winds), and facilities — sunloungers, parasols, showers, and cafes — are well established along most of the length.

The name is legendary rather than historical: local tradition claims that Cleopatra VII bathed here during a visit to Antony, who gifted her the city. Whether or not any of that is true, the beach is genuinely one of the better stretches of sand on this coast. It is less crowded at the western end, away from the town centre.

The water is warm from late May through October. The sea floor shelves gently, making it suitable for families with children. In summer, pedalos, jet skis, and banana boats are available for hire from the beach.
