By bus is the most practical option for most visitors arriving independently. Regular coaches run from Antalya's main bus terminal (otogar) to Alanya throughout the day; the journey takes around 2.5 to 3 hours along the coastal D400 highway. Several operators run the route and tickets are cheap. From Istanbul there are overnight buses that take around 12–14 hours.
By air, the nearest airport is Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP), roughly 45 km east of town. It handles seasonal charter and low-cost flights from European cities, with the widest choice of routes in summer. Taxis and shuttle buses connect the airport to central Alanya in about 45 minutes.
Antalya Airport (AYT) is the region's major international hub, with year-round connections to many European and Middle Eastern cities. From Antalya airport to Alanya, private transfers and shuttle services make the 2.5-hour journey; alternatively, take the Antalya tram or airport bus into the city centre and then catch a long-distance coach from the otogar.
By car, Alanya is 135 km east of Antalya on the D400, a coastal road that is mostly straightforward but becomes slow through small towns. The drive is scenic — the Taurus Mountains drop steeply to the sea at several points along the route. Parking in the town centre, especially near the harbour and castle promontory, can be difficult in summer.
There is no train service to Alanya.
