Barlar Sokağı — Bar Street — is the spine of Bodrum's legendary nightlife, a pedestrianised street and its surrounding alleys running parallel to the waterfront. The scene has evolved since the 1980s heyday when Bodrum was one of Europe's premier party destinations, but the concentration of bars, clubs, and music venues is still impressive for a town of this size.
The street gets going late — Turkish party culture starts around midnight and runs until morning. Music policies vary by venue, with some bars playing Turkish pop and arabesk, others international dance music. The quality of the establishments ranges from excellent to terrible; wander until you find somewhere that suits your energy. In peak summer (July–August) the whole area is packed; in June and September it is more manageable.
