Ibo is one of the long-standing favourites in Bodrum's restaurant alley near the harbour — a reliable choice for traditional Turkish meze and main courses in an area that can otherwise be hit-or-miss. The signature dish is hünkar beğendi (sultan's delight): slow-cooked lamb on a rich bed of smoked aubergine purée mixed with béchamel and cheese. It is a classic Ottoman palace dish that takes skill to make properly, and Ibo does it well.
The meze selection is wide, and ordering four or five small plates to share is the right way to start a meal here. The içli köfte (cracked wheat shells filled with minced meat and walnuts) and the white bean salad dressed with onions and parsley are both worth ordering. Prices are midrange for Bodrum, and the portions are generous.
