Hattusa is the reason Boğazkale belongs on a travel map. The Hittite capital spread across the hills above the village, protected by massive walls and entered through gates guarded by lions, sphinxes, and royal imagery.
Much of what you see is foundation and reconstruction, but the scale is powerful. Walk slowly, because the site is less about one perfect ruin than about understanding a Bronze Age capital spread across ridges, temples, roads, and gates.
