Guray Museum

An underground ceramics museum in Avanos, rooted in Cappadocia's long pottery tradition.

Guray Museum is built around the craft that made Avanos famous: clay from the Kizilirmak River shaped into pottery. The setting gives it an extra Cappadocian twist, with exhibition spaces cut below ground and rooms that feel closer to a carved cave complex than a conventional town museum.

The collection moves between archaeological pieces, Ottoman and Seljuk ceramics, and contemporary work by local artists. It is especially worthwhile if you plan to visit a pottery workshop in Avanos, because it gives the everyday craft a longer historical frame.
