Akçay is the main beach resort at the head of the Gulf of Edremit, close enough to town to make it the district's easy seaside outlet. In summer it gets busy, with beach clubs, cafes, and a steady Turkish holiday rhythm.
It is not the wildest or most beautiful part of the coast, but it is useful and lively. Go for a swim, eat by the water, then head inland toward Güre or Zeytinli when you want shade and mountain air.
