Yakutiye Madrasa

Fourteenth-century madrasa with fine stone carving, now Erzurum's ethnography museum.

Yakutiye Madrasa was built in 1310 and is one of Erzurum's most elegant medieval buildings. Its portal is covered in crisp stone carving, and a single minaret rises beside the courtyard.

The building now houses an ethnography museum. Even if the displays are secondary for you, the architecture is worth the visit, especially as part of a walk between the castle and Cumhuriyet Caddesi.
