Giresun Island is a small, green island just offshore, often linked with the ancient Aretias of Greek legend. It has traces of a roofless temple, later fortifications, and monastery remains, though the atmosphere is more scrubby and windswept than manicured.
Boats do not always run, so ask locally before building a day around it. When they do, the trip gives Giresun something rare on this coast: a real offshore excursion rather than another seafront walk.
