Zeynel Bey Mausoleum

Fifteenth-century tiled mausoleum relocated above the reservoir before Hasankeyf was flooded.

This small cylindrical tomb is the most photogenic survivor of old Hasankeyf. Built in the 15th century for Zeynel Bey of the Aq Qoyunlu dynasty, it was moved from the old riverbank before the dam waters rose, so its survival is impressive and unsettling at the same time.
