Aktekke Mosque

Karamanid mosque complex tied to the family story of Mevlana.

Aktekke Mosque, also called Mader-i Mevlana, is the most atmospheric religious building in central Karaman. The complex is associated with Mevlana's family, who lived in Karaman before the Sufi poet became inseparable from the story of Konya.

The appeal is not only architectural. Its courtyard, tombs, and remaining complex buildings show how Karaman fits into the wider spiritual geography of central Anatolia.
