Binbirkilise, the "Thousand and One Churches", is a loose archaeological landscape rather than a single fenced ruin. Around Madenşehri, Üçkuyu, and Değle are the remains of Byzantine churches, monasteries, cisterns, fortifications, and domestic buildings.
The site lies roughly 30 km north of Karaman on the slopes of Karadağ, so you need your own wheels or a driver. It rewards travellers who like quiet ruins in open country more than tidy ticketed attractions.
