Lycian Way

540 km waymarked coastal trekking route passing through Olympos

Olympos and Çıralı sit on the Lycian Way, the 540 km long-distance waymarked trail that runs along the Turkish Mediterranean coast from Fethiye to Antalya. The Olympos section is one of the most rewarding stretches: shaded pine forest, dramatic cliffs above the sea, ancient ruins every few hours, and easy logistics (a string of pensions makes carrying camping gear optional).

Day-walkers can sample the trail without committing to a thru-hike. Two good half-day options from Olympos: north over the ridge to Tekirova, or south up the cliff to a string of small bays. Buy Kate Clow's Lycian Way guidebook (sold in most local pensions) before setting off.
