Tatvan is on the main D300 road between Bitlis and Van. Buses and minibuses connect it with nearby eastern Anatolian towns, while the railway reaches the lake at Tatvan before continuing by ferry across to Van. The ferry schedule can be irregular, so check locally before building a tight itinerary around it.
