Central Hamam

Historic Ottoman hamam near Meydan, still used for traditional Turkish baths.

Central Hamam, also known as Trabzon Meydan Hamamı, is one of the most accessible ways to experience the city's old bathhouse culture. It stands close to Meydan on Kahramanmaraş Caddesi, right in the busy commercial centre, and still works as a traditional Turkish bath rather than a preserved shell.

The appeal is partly architectural and partly social. The bath has separate men's and women's sections, with the familiar sequence of changing room, warm space, hot room, washing, scrub, and rest. It is more useful as a lived-in local ritual than as a polished spa, so go prepared for a practical, old-fashioned hamam visit.
