Getting There

Trabzon Airport has frequent domestic flights to Istanbul (about 1.5 hours), Ankara, and other Turkish cities. Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, and SunExpress all serve the route from Istanbul. International connections are limited but include some seasonal European routes. The airport is about 8 kilometres from the city centre; taxis are the main option for the transfer.

By road, Trabzon is on the E97 Black Sea coastal highway. Buses connect to all major Turkish cities; the journey to Istanbul takes about 20 hours. Buses also run east to Rize, Artvin, and the Georgian border (Sarp), and south to Erzurum for connections into eastern Anatolia. A minibus service (dolmuş) runs along the coast road to smaller towns.
