Kalepark Fortress

Kalepark Fortress is a battered Genoese-era ruin above the Black Sea shore. The Genoese rebuilt the site after taking Trabzon in 1306 and called it Leonkastron, or "beautiful castle"; today the appeal is more in the setting and the layers of history than in intact walls.

Come for a short look while exploring central Trabzon's old fortifications and waterfront.
