Munzur Valley National Park begins about 8km northwest of Tunceli and is one of the great landscapes of eastern Anatolia. The road follows the Munzur River into a mountain valley of clear water, limestone slopes, forest, springs, and high ridges that rise toward the Munzur Mountains.
The park is large enough to deserve more than a quick look, but even a half day from Tunceli gives a strong sense of the place. Go for river views, short walks, picnic stops, and the contrast between the hard mountains and the bright green valley floor.
