Contemporary Art Museum of Uzbekistan (Urgench Branch)

The Urgench branch of the Contemporary Art Museum of Uzbekistan (CAMUZ) displays work by Uzbek artists across painting, sculpture, and mixed media. The collection reflects the country's post-independence cultural scene — a mix of traditional motifs reworked in modern form and more experimental pieces that push against Soviet-era conventions.

The gallery is small by international standards but worth a look if you have an interest in Central Asian contemporary art. The staff are usually willing to explain the works in Russian if not in English. Admission is modest, and the air-conditioned interior is a welcome respite on a hot day.
