Green Mango is the long-standing upmarket option on the Cat Ba seafront, a stone-walled space with a wood-fired oven and a menu that mixes Vietnamese with Mediterranean — wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta, grilled local fish, and a respectable wine list. Prices are higher than the surrounding shoebox places but the cooking is genuinely good and the service is attentive.
Best at sunset, with seats on the terrace facing the harbour. Reservations are wise in high season (April–October), particularly at weekends when day-trippers from Hanoi pack the town. The same kitchen runs the more casual Good Bar a couple of doors down for lighter meals and cocktails.
