District 3 is the immediate neighbour of District 1 to the north and west, and has a noticeably different character: more residential, tree-lined streets, fewer tourists, and a concentration of good restaurants and cafés popular with the Vietnamese middle class and expats. It is an excellent alternative base to District 1 — quieter at night and more representative of how Saigon actually lives.
The War Remnants Museum, the Thích Quảng Đức Monument, and the Saigon Zoo are all in or adjacent to District 3. The streets around Vo Thi Sau and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai have some of the best street food and independent restaurants in the city. The neighbourhood is also home to several small contemporary art galleries.
