The Fairy Stream is a shallow waterway that runs inland from the coast at the eastern end of the Mui Ne resort strip. You wade along the stream bed between walls of compressed sandstone in shades of rust, cream, and deep orange — layers of different-coloured sand consolidated over thousands of years. The water rarely reaches ankle-height, and the walk takes about thirty minutes each way.
The stream is at its most photogenic in the late afternoon, when the light catches the sandstone walls and intensifies the colours. Locals rent waterproof bags and walking sticks at the entrance. The walk ends at a small waterfall and a grove of cashew trees before the stream becomes too shallow to follow. It is not a dramatic destination but a pleasant one — unhurried and genuinely unusual in the context of a beach resort.
