Ba Ho Waterfalls

Ba Ho is a series of three waterfalls and natural swimming pools about 25 km north of Nha Trang in a forested gorge. The hike through the jungle to the upper pools takes about 45 minutes over rocky terrain, and all three pools offer swimming in clear mountain water. The lowest pool is the biggest and easiest to reach; the upper pools require some scrambling over boulders and are quieter.

The site is most popular with Vietnamese day-trippers on weekends; on weekdays it can be pleasantly quiet. Motorbike is the most practical way to get there from Nha Trang — the road north along Highway 1 is straightforward. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet.

A story
Ba Ho means "Three Lakes" in Vietnamese, referring to the three pools formed by the waterfalls and the natural rock formations. The site is in a valley of the Bô Ba River, about 25 km north of Nha Trang, in a narrow gorge where the jungle canopy closes overhead. Local legend holds that the pools are inhabited by protective spirits, and offerings are sometimes left at small shrines near the water's edge.
