Quán 37 Bún Cá on Lê Lợi street is one of the best-known places in Nha Trang to try the local fish noodle soup. The broth here is turmeric-yellow, rich, and deeply fishy in the best possible way, topped with slices of fresh ocean fish, a few pieces of fried fish cake, and served with a plate of bean sprouts, fresh herbs, and chilli. It opens early and is busy from 6am.
The room is basic — plastic stools, formica tables — and the menu is essentially one dish. Prices are very low. This is breakfast food eaten fast, but if you only eat one bowl of bún cá in Nha Trang, eat it here or somewhere like it. The Lê Lợi and Phan Bội Châu streets near the Cathedral have several similar spots.
