The main sites are spread over a fairly wide area and not walkable between them. The most practical and enjoyable way to get around is by motorbike — rental is available from most guesthouses for around 100,000–150,000 VND per day. The roads between Tam Coc, Trang An, and Hoa Lu are scenic and lightly trafficked.
Bicycles can be rented for the Tam Coc area, which is flat, but are impractical for reaching Cuc Phuong (45 km) or Phat Diem (30 km). Taxis and rideshare apps (Grab) are available from Ninh Binh city but can be expensive for the longer excursions.
Many guesthouses can arrange day tours by car with a driver, which is worth considering if you want to cover Cuc Phuong or Phat Diem without the logistical effort.
