Hume Dam is the big piece of river engineering east of Albury-Wodonga. The dam holds back Lake Hume and controls flows on the Murray, so it is both a viewpoint and a practical explanation of why this river crossing became important.
You can walk across the dam wall and use the viewing areas for a broad look over the lake and valley. It is best as part of a wider drive, especially if you are continuing toward the High Country.
