The Killer Whale Museum is Eden's essential stop. Its centrepiece is the skeleton of Old Tom, the best-known of the orcas that helped local whalers herd baleen whales into Twofold Bay. The story sounds like folklore until you see how much of the town's history was built around it.
The museum also covers shore-based whaling, fishing, timber, shipwrecks, and local life on the far south coast. Go before driving out to Boyds Tower or Davidson Whaling Station; the landscape makes more sense once you know the story.
