Thunderbolt's Lookout is in Torrington State Conservation Area, northeast of Emmaville, and gives a wide view across granite outcrops, dry forest, and rough New England country. The walking track is short but includes steps and a steep final climb.
It is worth the drive if the roads are dry and you want to understand the landscape beyond the village.
