Goulburn is on the Hume Highway (M31), about 200 km southwest of Sydney and 90 km north of Canberra — it is the natural midpoint stop on the Sydney-Canberra drive. By train, the NSW TrainLink Southern Highlands line runs from Sydney's Central Station to Goulburn, with several services daily; the journey takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. By road from Sydney, take the M5 and then the M31; from Canberra, it is a straight run north on the Federal Highway. Goulburn is not served by commercial air services.
