Goulburn Pumping Station Museum

The Goulburn Pumping Station is a heritage-listed former municipal water supply facility on the Wollondilly River, now operating as a museum of industrial heritage. The original steam-powered pumping machinery, installed in the late 19th century, has been preserved in working condition — a rare survival of the Victorian municipal engineering that turned many Australian country towns from dusty summer firetraps into viable year-round settlements.

The museum is operated by enthusiasts and is open on selected weekends. Ring ahead to check times. If you have any interest in industrial history, the working steam engines and the original brick pumphouse are worth the short drive from the city centre.
