Goulburn Railway Station

Goulburn Railway Station is one of the finest Victorian railway buildings in New South Wales — a handsome sandstone structure dating from 1869, later extended, with covered platforms and decorative ironwork that reflects the importance of rail to this regional centre. The station is still in use for the NSW TrainLink service to Sydney, which gives the heritage building an active function rather than museum status.

The railway was the making of Goulburn as a regional city, and the scale of the original station reflects the town's 19th-century ambitions. Worth a look even if you arrive by car; the approach from the city centre takes about five minutes on foot from the main street.
