Lake Inverell Reserve is the easy nature stop on the edge of town. The river broadens here into a calm stretch of water, with tracks, picnic areas, and enough birdlife to make it more than just a leg-stretch.
Go early or late if you are hoping for wildlife. Platypus are possible, but patience and quiet are doing the work.
