Tathra Wharf is the town's landmark: a long timber structure on the headland above clear water, built for coastal shipping and now used for fishing, views, and a small museum. It is a good first stop because it explains why this quiet beach town once mattered to the south coast.
Come in the morning or late afternoon for softer light over the beach. In calm water, the rocks and pylons below the wharf can be good for snorkelling.
