Flagstaff Hill gives the easiest big view of Bowen: the town, the harbour, Gloucester Island, and the Whitsunday coast spread out below. It is the place to understand Bowen as a peninsula rather than just a town along the highway.
The road up is steep and narrow in places, so avoid towing caravans. Go early or late for better light and less heat.
