Moffat Beach, at the northern end of Caloundra's beach strip, is the most charming of the town's beaches and the one most worth making the effort to reach. The beach itself has reliable waves and good swimming in the sheltered section behind the headland. The village around it — a handful of excellent cafes, a surf club, and a park — has held onto a low-key character that the rest of Caloundra is gradually losing.
Come for breakfast at one of the beachfront cafes after an early swim. It is a very Queensland morning.
