Towers Hill

Hill above town with gold-discovery history, mine remains, wartime bunkers, and sunset views.

Towers Hill is the lookout and origin story. Gold was found at the base of the hill in 1871, and the rise still carries mining remains, interpretive stops, and World War II bunkers.

Go late in the day if you can. The dry hills and town grid make more sense from above, and the sunset view is one of the easiest rewards in Charters Towers.
