Zara Clark Museum is a compact local-history museum in the old centre. Its strength is the accumulation of Charters Towers material: photographs, domestic objects, military stories, mining pieces, and the ordinary evidence of a town that boomed hard and then settled down.
It is a good second stop after the Stock Exchange Arcade or Venus Gold Battery, especially if volunteers are around to talk through the displays.
