Charley's Creek runs close to the centre of town and gives Chinchilla its easiest walk. Paths follow the water under the railway and highway bridges, with picnic tables, barbecue spots, playgrounds, and signs pointing out local wildlife.
It is not a grand sight, but it is the right place to slow down after the Warrego Highway and see the town at its most local: families at the playground, birds along the creek, and enough shade to make a lunch stop feel civilised.
