SkyPoint Observation Deck

Views from 77 floors up at the top of Q1 Tower — tallest residential building in Australia

SkyPoint sits at the 77th floor of Q1 Tower, the 322-metre supertall that dominates the Surfers Paradise skyline and remains the tallest residential building in Australia. The observation deck offers uninterrupted 360-degree views on clear days: the entire Gold Coast beach strip north and south, the hinterland ranges behind, Brisbane visible 80 km up the coast, and Byron Bay lighthouse just visible to the south.

The experience is professionally run, with displays on local history and a glass floor section near the windows. A café and cocktail bar at the top make it worth timing your visit for sunset, when the light turns the towers below orange and the Pacific goes dark-blue. Tickets can be pre-booked online.

For the adventurous, SkyPoint also runs a climb experience — participants are harnessed and walk up the external spire of Q1 to a platform above the observation deck. It is similar to the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb in concept, though the views here are more about beach and ocean than city architecture. The climb runs in daylight and at twilight.

Q1 is easy to find — it is by far the most distinctive building on the Gold Coast and visible from anywhere on the beach strip.
