Gunsynd Statue

The Gunsynd Statue commemorates the "Goondiwindi Grey", a racehorse bought cheaply by local owners who went on to win major races including the Cox Plate. In a bigger city this might be a minor sporting footnote; in Goondiwindi it is part of the town's identity.

The statue stands near the old Border Bridge and the river, so it is easy to include on a short walk from the museum. Even non-racing fans get the point: this is local pride cast in bronze.
