Horn Island Airport

Horn Island Airport is more than a transfer point. Built as an advanced operational airbase during World War II, it connected Australia with New Guinea and became a Japanese bombing target during the northern air war.

Today it is still the Torres Strait's main air gateway. Even if you only pass through, it is worth knowing that the runways sit on one of the region's most important wartime sites.
