Mission Beach is about 140 kilometers south of Cairns and is not on any rail line.
By Bus
Greyhound and Premier Motor Service run coaches between Cairns and Mission Beach daily, taking about 2.5 hours. The same services continue south to Townsville if you are heading that direction.
By Car
The drive from Cairns takes about 1.5 hours via the Bruce Highway south to El Arish, then east through the cane fields. The road through the rainforest section descending toward the coast is narrow and should be driven carefully in wet weather. Hiring a car in Cairns is straightforward and gives you flexibility to stop at the waterfalls and viewpoints along the Palmerston Highway.
By Air
The nearest airports are Cairns (the main hub) and Townsville. Neither has a direct shuttle to Mission Beach.
