Whitsunday Islands National Park

Protected national-park islands covering much of the wilder Whitsundays.

Whitsunday Islands National Park protects many of the islands that give the region its wilder character. The park is not a single fenced attraction; it is a scattered marine-and-island landscape of beaches, walking tracks, campsites, and anchorages.

For independent travellers with boat access, the park campsites can be superb. For everyone else, the practical way in is through sailing tours and day trips that land at approved beaches and lookouts. Either way, the rule is simple: take nothing, leave nothing, and do not treat the reef or beaches as disposable scenery.
