The Australian Age of Dinosaurs is one of the strongest reasons to travel to Winton. The museum and fossil preparation lab sit on a mesa outside town, close to the country where major dinosaur bones have been found, including giant sauropods from the Cretaceous.
Tours take you through the fossil lab, the collection, and the outdoor Dinosaur Canyon, where bronze reconstructions and real tracks make the old landscape easier to picture. The setting matters as much as the displays: red earth, spinifex, big sky, and a clear sense that the dinosaurs are not an imported theme but part of this ground.
