Bool Lagoon is one of southern Australia's largest freshwater lagoon systems, a seasonal wetland south of Naracoorte with birdlife, boardwalks, lookouts, and walking trails. It is also part of the Bool and Hacks Lagoons Ramsar wetland.
The word seasonal matters. In dry periods it can look muted, but when water and birds are present it is a strong contrast to the fossil caves and sheep country.
